JONATHAN PAZER

RESIDENT OF THE REDWOOD EMPIRE
I’m now a resident of the Redwood Empire, also known as Mendocino County California. I write poetry, make images, take photographs, and play both Irish and Japanese music on traditional flutes…. I had an idea about bringing poetry to specific places and making it location dependent, but…. It’s March 2020, and like most of America, I’m home, sheltering in place because of the Covid-19 Pandemic of 2020. No one is going out unless they absolutely have to, so location based art — what’s the point. So I’m putting my work online.
If you would like to stop by, someday when we are free to visit one another, and look at some of my pictures you can find them at The Mendocino Coast Photographers Gallery, located in Fort Bragg, CA.
You can also visit my full photography website for additional information, www.PAZER.com.
I have a book of poetry and lightscape images available on Amazon, Seven Dimensions of the Unseen. Those poems and much of my poetry is ekphrastic, that is, it’s poetry written in response to photographs or images I have made. The lightscape images in Seven Dimensions were landscape images created in the studio, using projected, reflected and diffused light interacting with various objects. I call these setups of lights and objects, impromptu light sculptures. What’s interesting to me is that as a viewer of these images, you don’t need to know what made them and it would be almost impossible to imagine what the light sculptures looked like because their projections are so different in character from what produced them. Some of those poems and images from Seven Dimensions of the Unseen, are here in The Poetry Pouch for you to sample. Please consider buying my book on Amazon, if you like my work.
